Pulmistad 0.5 mg/ml, 20 ampoules of 2 ml:
Pulmistad is an effective corticosteroid treatment administered by inhalation through a nebulizer. It contains the active ingredient budesonide, which helps reduce inflammation of the airways, swelling, and mucus production, making breathing easier and helping control chronic respiratory conditions.
Benefits and uses:
- Prevention and management: Helps control asthma symptoms in adults and children.
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD): Reduces the severity of symptoms and periodic exacerbations of the disease.
- Improved breathing: Reduces wheezing, coughing, and shortness of breath.
- Relief of airway inflammation: Reduces mucus production and swelling inside the lungs.
Directions for use:
- This medicine is used exclusively with a nebulizer.
- Dosage: The treating physician determines the dose and frequency based on the patient’s age and health condition.
- Important note: Rinse and gargle the mouth thoroughly with water (spit it out and do not swallow) after each inhalation session to prevent oral fungal infections (thrush).
Warnings and precautions:
- It may cause certain side effects, including hoarseness, coughing, throat irritation, or oral thrush.
- It is not intended for the rapid relief of acute bronchospasm. Patients should rinse their mouths with water after each use to reduce the risk of oral candidiasis (thrush).
- Caution should be exercised when it is administered concomitantly with strong inhibitors of the CYP3A4 enzyme (such as ketoconazole and antivirals), as they may increase systemic exposure to budesonide.
