Preterax Perindopril 2.5 mg + Enalopril 0.625 mg 30 Tablets:
Preterax tablets belong to antihypertensive drugs.
How perindopril and indapamide work:
- Perindopril belongs to the group of "angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors", a class of medications used primarily to treat high blood pressure and heart failure. They work by causing relaxation and widening of blood vessels as well as a decrease in blood volume, leading to lower blood pressure and decreased oxygen consumption by the heart.
- In addition, perindopril inhibits the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II and inhibits the breakdown of vasodilatory prostaglandins, which reduced vascular constriction, which, regulated by angiotensin II, promotes vasodilation.
- Indapamide has a dual mechanism of action: it acts as a diuretic on the distal part of the nephron in the kidney and acts as a vasodilator, both of which contribute to lowering blood pressure.
Uses of Preterax:
- It is used in patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with perindopril or indapamide alone.
- High blood pressure is a common condition in which the long-term force of blood pressure against the walls of the arteries is high enough that it may eventually cause health problems, such as heart disease.
- Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of fatal and non-fatal cardiovascular diseases, especially strokes and myocardial infarction.
How to use Preterax tablets:
- Take the medicine as prescribed by your doctor or pharmacist. Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
- Take the tablet before food in the morning.
- Take the tablet with a full glass of water.
- The recommended dose is one tablet orally once daily. Your doctor may increase your dose to two tablets each day or change your dosing regimen if you have kidney dysfunction.
- This medication is not recommended for use in children and teenagers.
- Doses may be changed in special circumstances, so always follow your doctor or pharmacist's instructions.
- If you take more medicine than you should, talk to your doctor or go to hospital straight away.
- If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for your next dose.
- Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for a missed dose.
