Hyoscine butylbromide is used to treat spasms (cramps) of the stomach, intestines, and bladder.
Scopinal medicine can be used for children to stop spasms and colic before radiographic imaging.
This medicine is intended for adults and children aged 6 years and above.
Take it as directed by your doctor.
Take with or without food.
The usual dose for adults is 20 mg 3-4 times a day.
The usual dose of Scopinal syrup for children aged 6-12 years is 10 mg 3 times a day.
Doses may be adjusted in special conditions, so always follow your doctor’s or pharmacist’s instructions.
If you take more than you should, talk to your doctor or go to the hospital immediately.
If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is time for the next dose.
Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for a missed dose.
Serious side effects: Eye problems such as pain and loss of vision.
Uncommon side effects (may occur in up to 1 in 100 people): Dry mouth, dizziness, increased heart rate.
Other side effects include: Difficulty urinating, constipation, sweating, and blurred vision.
Talk to your doctor about all your medical conditions before taking this medicine, including:
If you have heart problems such as rapid heartbeat (arrhythmia).
If you have hyperthyroidism.
If you have difficulty urinating.
If you have constipation.
If you have a fever.
If you have liver or kidney problems.
Tell your doctor about all the medicines you are taking, especially:
Tetracyclic antidepressants used for depression.
Medications that control your heart rate.
Medications for severe mental illnesses.
Medications used for respiratory problems (such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease).
Antihistamines used for allergies.
Amantadine.
Metoclopramide.
