Spasmolyt 20 mg 30 coated tablets:
- Trospium is a medication used to relax the muscles of the urinary bladder.
- It is used to treat symptoms associated with urinary incontinence and/or increased urinary frequency and/or urinary urgency in patients with overactive bladder.
How to take trospium:
- Always make sure to take this medicine exactly as your doctor told you. Consult your doctor or pharmacist.
- If you are not sure.
- "Unless your doctor prescribes otherwise, the usual daily dose is one capsule of extended-release Trosbium."
- Swallow one whole capsule with a glass of water. Take the capsule at least one hour before a meal on an empty stomach.
- Your doctor will determine the duration of the treatment.
- The need for continued treatment should be assessed at regular intervals of 3-6 months.
- Patients with kidney disorders should consult a doctor and not take this medication.
- Patients with liver disorders should consult a doctor before taking this medication.
Do not take trospium:
- If you have ever had an allergic reaction to terbium chloride or any of the other ingredients in this medicine.
If you are suffering from any of the following:
- Urinary retention, i.e., obstruction of the urinary tract,
- narrow-angle glaucoma condition,
- Abnormal heartbeats / faster than normal,
- Myasthenia gravis (a disorder that causes muscle weakness),
- Severe gastrointestinal condition, such as toxic megacolon.
- kidney problems,
- Serious liver problems.
Warnings and Precautions:
Talk to your pharmacist before taking Trospium if you have any of the following:
- Any type of gastric or intestinal obstruction,
- Weak urine flow (for example, in the case of benign tissue growth in the male prostate),
- neuropathy, or nerve damage,
- "Hiatal hernia associated with gastroesophageal reflux disease. This is usually associated with heartburn that worsens when bending over or lying down."
- Hyperthyroidism,
- Any heart diseases, such as coronary artery disease or congestive heart failure.
- Any liver problems.
- Do not give Trosbium to children under 18 years old.
Potential side effects:
- "Like all medications, this drug can cause side effects, although not everyone experiences them."
The following side effects have been reported for long-acting Trospium capsules:
- dry mouth
- Constipation, nausea, abdominal pain, and indigestion.
- Dry eyes and dry nose.
- swelling.
- Difficulty emptying the bladder, urinary retention,
- Heart rate and palpitations.
- Difficulty seeing things up close,
- skin rash,
- The general feeling of weakness.
- urinary tract infection,
- Headache
- Isolated cases of hallucination, confusion, and agitation.
Other medications and Trospium:
Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken or may take any other medications. Specifically, tell your doctor if you are taking any of the following medications:
- Some antidepressants like Amitriptyline or Imipramine.
- Some asthma medications that may increase the heart rate (such as salbutamol).
- Other anticholinergic drugs (such as Amantadine - used to treat Parkinson's disease).
- Metoclopramide - a medication used for nausea and vomiting.
- "Medications that contain guar, colestipol, or cholestyramine."
