What is carbidopa, levodopa, entacapone and what is it used for:
- This medication consists of three active ingredients; Carbidopa, levodopa and entacapone all in one tablet.
- It is used to treat Parkinson's disease.
- Parkinson's disease is caused by low levels of dopamine in the brain. Levodopa works by increasing the amount of dopamine, while carbidopa and entacapone work by enhancing the effects of levodopa against Parkinson's disease.
It is usually used for the following conditions of Parkinson's disease:
- To replace the carbidopa/levodopa and entacapone immediate-release tablet that you were previously taking as separate tablets by replacing your tablets with an equal titre of each of the three ingredients.
- To replace the carbidopa/levodopa (without entacapone) immediate-release tablet you were taking previously when you start to feel that your medicine is not as effective as it was when you started it. Do not take carbidopa, levodopa, entacapone:
