Mebendazole is a medicine belonging to the group called "worm expellers".
Mebendazole tablets are used to treat intestinal worm infections such as:
Threadworms (pinworms)
Other common worm infections (such as whipworm, roundworm, and hookworms)
You are allergic to anything in Mebendazole tablets.
You are pregnant.
Do not use this medicine if any of the above applies to you.
If you are unsure, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before use.
Mebendazole should not be given to children under two years old.
Mebendazole should only be given to younger children if specifically prescribed by your doctor. Your doctor will decide if it is suitable for your child. You should follow the doctor's instructions carefully.
The Vermox dose depends on the type of worm infection being treated. The most common intestinal worm infection is threadworm. Please consult your doctor if you are unsure.
Threadworm infection:
For adults and children over two years: take a 5 ml dose. Repeat after 2-4 weeks. If symptoms persist a few days after taking the dose, consult your doctor.
Other common worm infections (trichuriasis, trichinosis, hookworm disease, and mixed infections):
Adults and children over two years: take 5 ml in the morning and evening for 3 days.
Other worm infections (tapeworm and roundworm infections):
Adults: take two doses of 5 ml (10 ml) morning and evening for 3 days.
Children over two years: take 5 ml in the morning and evening for 3 days.
Your doctor will advise the appropriate dose depending on the type of worm infection.
