Possible side effects from levocetirizine dihydrochloride include allergic reactions, tiredness, weakness, and drowsiness. Other common side effects that may be seen in patients 12 years of age and older include nasopharyngitis, dry mouth, and pharyngitis. Additional common side effects seen in children 6 to 12 years of age include fever, cough, and nosebleeds.
How to take Xysal:
5 mg (1 tablet or 2 teaspoons [10 mL] of oral solution) once daily in the evening. Dosage adjustment may be required in patients with impaired renal function.
2.5 mg (1/2 tablet or 1 teaspoonful [5 mL] of oral solution) orally once daily in the evening. Do not exceed 2.5 mg daily. Do not give this medicine to children under 6 years old.
