Do not use drospirenone / ethinylestradione:
if you have (or have ever had) a blood clot in a blood vessel in your leg (deep vein thrombosis, DVT), lungs (pulmonary embolus, PE) or other organs;
if you know you have a disorder that affects blood clotting - eg, protein C deficiency, protein S deficiency, deficiency of antithrombin III, factor V Leiden or antiphospholipid antibodies;
If you need surgery or if you've been off your feet for a long time
If you have had a heart attack or stroke.
if you have (or have ever had) angina (a condition that causes severe chest pain and may be the first sign of a heart attack) or transient ischemic attack (TIA - temporary stroke symptoms);
If you suffer from any of the following diseases that may increase the risk of a clot in the arteries:
Severe diabetes with vascular damage
Very high blood pressure
High blood fats (cholesterol or triglycerides)
o A condition known as hyperhomocysteinemia
If you have (or have ever had) a type of migraine called 'migraine with aura'.
If you have (or have ever had) liver disease and your liver function is still not normal
If the kidneys are not working well (kidney failure)
If you have (or have ever had) a liver tumor
If you have (or have ever had) or are suspected of having breast cancer or cancer of the reproductive organs
If you suffer from unexplained vaginal bleeding
If you are allergic to ethinyl estradiol or drospirenone, or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
Cautions and precautions:
Talk to your doctor before taking it. You should also tell your doctor:
If a close relative has or has had breast cancer
If you have liver or gallbladder disease
if you suffer from diabetes
If you suffer from depression
If you have Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis (chronic inflammatory bowel disease).
If you suffer from hemolytic uremic syndrome
If you have sickle cell anemia (an inherited disease of the red blood cells).
If you have high levels of fats in the blood (hypertriglyceridemia) or a positive family history of this condition
If you need surgery, or have been off your feet for a long time
If you were just born, you are at increased risk of developing blood clots
if you have inflammation of the veins under the skin (superficial thrombophlebitis)
If you have varicose veins
If you suffer from epilepsy
If you suffer from systemic lupus erythematosus
If you have a disease that first appeared during pregnancy or earlier use of sex hormones (eg, hearing loss, a blood disease called porphyria, yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), itching of the whole body (pruritus), skin rash Skin with blisters during pregnancy (herpes of pregnancy), a neurological disease that causes sudden movements of the body (Sydenham's chorea))
If you have ever had a change in skin color especially on the face or neck known as "pregnancy spots" (melasma). If so, avoid direct sunlight or UV rays.
If you have hereditary angioedema, estrogen-containing products may cause or worsen your symptoms.
Possible side effects:
Stop using the product and seek immediate medical attention if you develop throat tightness, swelling of the eyes, face, lips, or tongue, feel faint, or have difficulty breathing. Stop using the product if you experience hives or itching on the face or body.
Other medicines and drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol:
Will interact with medications that:
It could have an effect on blood levels of it
It could make it less effective at preventing pregnancy
It can cause unexpected bleeding
These include medicines used to treat:
epilepsy (such as primidone, phenytoin, barbiturates, carbamazepine, oxcarbazepine)
tuberculosis (eg rifampicin)
HIV infection and hepatitis C (called protease inhibitors and non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors, such as ritonavir, nevirapine, and efavirenz
Fungal infections (griseofulvin, ketoconazole)
Arthritis and Arthritis (Etoricoxib)
High blood pressure in the blood vessels of the lungs (bosentan)
The herbal remedy St John's wort
This medicine may affect the effect of other medicines:
Medicines containing cyclosporine
the antiepileptic lamotrigine (this may increase the frequency of seizures)
theophylline (used to treat breathing problems)
tizanidine (used to treat muscle pain and/or muscle spasms).
How to use drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol:
Take it every day for 21 days.
It comes in strips of 21 tablets, each marked with the day of the week.
Take the pill at the same time every day.
Start by taking a tablet marked with the correct day of the week.
Follow the direction of the arrows on the tape. Take 1 tablet each day, until you have finished 21 tablets.
Swallow each tablet whole, with water if needed. Do not chew the pill.
Then you have seven pill-free days.
After you have taken all 21 tablets in the pack, you have seven days to not take a pill. Therefore, if you took the last pill from one pack on Friday, you will take the first pill from your next pack on Saturday of the following week.
Within a few days of taking the last pill from the pack, you should have withdrawal bleeding like your period. This bleeding may not have ended when it is time to start the next pack of pills.
You don't need to use extra contraception during the seven pill-free days - as long as you've taken your pills correctly and started your next pack of pills on time.
Then start the next bar
Start taking your next pack after the seven pill-free days - even if you are still bleeding. Always start the new can at the scheduled time.
How to store drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol:
Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
Do not store above 25°C. Store in its original packaging.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the package after "Do not use after:" or "EXP".
The expiration date refers to the last day of the same month.
