Zetron 250 mg Capsule belongs to antibacterial medicines.

How azithromycin works:

• Azithromycin belongs to the class of drugs known as macrolide antibiotics. It works by killing bacteria or preventing their growth.
• Azithromycin prevents bacteria from growing by interfering with the formation of their protein, which is necessary for bacterial growth.

Medical uses of Zetron 250 mg capsule:

It is used to treat infections caused by certain bacteria, which include:

• Chest, throat, or nose infections (such as bronchitis, pneumonia, inflammation of the tonsils and throat (pharyngitis), sinusitis).
• Ear infections.
• Skin and soft tissue infections (eg abscesses or boils).
• Sexually transmitted diseases caused by some types of bacteria.

How to use Zetron 250 mg capsule:

• You should take azithromycin one hour before a meal or two hours after a meal.
• The recommended dose for adults and children over 45 kg is 500 mg once daily for 3 days.
• For some diseases such as chlamydia, the recommended dose is 1 g taken together in just one day.
• For gonorrhea, the recommended dose is 1 g or 2 g of azithromycin with 250 or 500 mg of ceftriaxone.
• Azithromycin tablets or capsules should not be given to children weighing less than 45 kg.
• Doses may be changed in special circumstances, so always follow your doctor or pharmacist's instructions.
• If you take more medicine than you should, talk to your doctor or go to hospital straight away.
• If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for your next dose.
• Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for a missed dose.
