- Omeprazole is used to treat excess stomach acid in conditions such as noncancerous stomach ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease, active duodenal ulcers, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and erosive esophagitis.
- Omeprazole works by blocking the production of stomach acid and is in a group of medicines known as proton pump inhibitors.
- Omeprazole may also be used in combination with antibiotics to treat stomach ulcers caused by infection with Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori).
Usage instructions:
- For intravenous injection:
- Omeprazole vials should be given as an intravenous infusion over 20-30 minutes.
- The contents of one vial should be dissolved in at least 100 mL of normal saline or 100 mL of 5% dextrose for intravenous injection.
Warnings and Precautions:
- You should not use omeprazole if you are allergic to it, or if you have ever had breathing or kidney problems, or you've had a severe allergic reaction after taking omeprazole in the past.
