Uses:
The oral suspension is used to treat the following infections in adults and children:
- Acute bacterial sinusitis (adequately diagnosed).
- Acute otitis media.
- Acute attacks of chronic bronchitis (adequately diagnosed).
- Community-acquired pneumonia.
- Cystitis.
- Pyelonephritis.
- Skin and soft tissue infections in particular cellulitis, animal bites, acute dental abscess with spread of cellulitis.
- Bone and joint infections.
How to use:
- For adults and children ≥ 40 kg, this formulation of Co-amoxiclav 400/57mg/5ml powder for oral suspension provides a total daily dose of 1750 mg amoxicillin/250 mg clavulanic acid in twice daily doses and 2625 mg amoxicillin/375 mg clavulanic acid in three times daily doses. .
- For children less than 40 kg, this formulation of Co-amoxiclav 400/57mg/5ml powder for oral suspension provides a maximum daily dose of 1000-2800 mg amoxicillin/143-400 mg clavulanic acid.
- If a higher daily dose of amoxicillin is required, it is recommended to choose another preparation of Co-amoxiclav 400/57mg/5ml powder for oral suspension to avoid administration of unnecessarily high daily doses of clavulanic acid.
- The duration of treatment should be determined by the patient's response.
- Some infections (such as osteomyelitis) require longer periods of treatment.
- Treatment should not be extended for more than 14 days without review.
Side effects:
Stop using this medication and call your doctor at once if you have serious side effects such as:
- Diarrhea that is watery or bloody.
- Pale or yellowing skin, dark urine, fever, confusion or weakness.
- Bruising or bleeding easily.
- Skin rash, bruising, severe tingling, numbness, pain, muscle weakness.
