Dextrose 5% Solution 500 ml
Uses:
- To replenish the body with fluids after fluid loss.
- To dissolve with certain injectable medications.
- To treat low blood sugar levels.
- To treat high levels of potassium in the blood.
Contraindications:
- If you are allergic to the active ingredients or any of the other ingredients of this medication.
- If you are allergic to corn or corn products.
- If you have very high blood sugar levels.
- If you have spinal or brain bleeding.
- If you have had a stroke.
- If you can't urinate.
- If you have a condition known as delirium tremens (uncontrolled shaking after stopping drinking alcohol).
Warnings and precautions:
Tell your doctor about all your health conditions, including:
- If you have diabetes.
- If you are severely dehydrated.
- If you are malnourished.
- If you have difficulty urinating.
- If you have kidney issues.
- If you have recently suffered a brain injury.
Possible side effects:
- Stop using this product and seek immediate medical attention if you develop a rash; itching; red, blistered, or peeling skin; tightness in the chest or throat; difficulty breathing, swallowing, or speaking; unusual hoarseness or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, lips, tongue, or throat.
- The frequency with which these side effects occur is unknown.
Side effects:
- Clots or inflammation of blood vessels
- High blood sugar levels characterized by thirst, confusion, and fatigue
- Imbalances in blood salt ratios
- Water retention due to malnutrition (swelling and difficulty breathing)
- Dehydration
Dosage:
- This medication will be given to you by a nurse.
- It is given by infusion into a vein.
- Your doctor will determine the dose for you.
How to store:
- Store at room temperature from 68 to 77 degrees Fahrenheit (20 to 25 degrees Celsius).
- Keep this medicine out of the reach of children.
- Do not use this medicine after the expiration date on the box.
