Cefim 400 mg 6 Capsules
Scientific name: Cefixime.
Uses:
- To treat pharyngitis, tonsillitis and sinusitis.
- To treat middle ear infection.
- For the treatment of acute bronchitis and chronic bronchitis.
- For the treatment of uncomplicated urinary tract infections.
- To treat uncomplicated gonorrhea of the urethra or cervix.
How to use:
- The recommended dose of Cefem is 400 mg daily.
- This may be given as a 400 mg capsule once daily or as a 200 mg capsule every 12 hours.
- For the treatment of uncomplicated gonococcal infections of the urethra or cervix, a single 400 mg oral dose is recommended.
Warnings and precautions:
- Before starting treatment with cefixime, it should be ascertained whether there have been any previous hypersensitivity reactions to cephalosporins or penicillins.
- If allergic reactions occur, administration of the drug should be discontinued and the patient should receive appropriate treatment.
- Since pseudomembranous colitis may appear during treatment with broad-spectrum antibiotics (including macrolides, semi-synthetic penicillins, and cephalosporins), the onset of this form of colitis should be taken into account during treatment with these drugs, and extreme caution should be exercised when administering Cefem to patients with... - In such cases, the dose should be less than the usual recommended dose.
