Clavox 375 mg 20 tablets
Scientific name: Amoxicillin 250 mg + clavulanic acid 125 mg tablets.
Uses:
It is used in adults and children to treat the following types of infections:
- Middle ear and sinus infections.
- Respiratory infection.
- Urinary tract infection.
- Skin and soft tissue infections including dental infections.
- Bone and joint infection.
How to use:
- Take the medicine with food.
- Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water.
- Adults and children weighing 40 kg and over The usual dose is: one tablet three times a day.
- Space doses evenly during the day, at least 4 hours apart. Do not take two doses in one hour.
- Do not take amoxicillin/clavulanic acid for more than two weeks.
- Children aged 6 years or younger should preferably be treated with amoxicillin/clavulanic acid oral suspension or effervescent sachets, as the tablets are not suitable for children weighing less than 25 kg.
- If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for your next dose.
- Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for a missed dose.
Possible side effects:
These include allergies, convulsions (seizures) and inflammation of the large intestine.
These side effects are not common.
Warnings and precautions:
Talk to your doctor before taking amoxicillin/clavulanic acid if:
- You have a fever.
- You have liver or kidney problems.
Or you are taking other medications such as:
- If you are taking allopurinol.
- If you are taking probenecid.
- If you are taking medicines to help stop blood clotting (eg warfarin).
Preservation method:
- Store at a temperature below 25 degrees Celsius.
- Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
- Do not refrigerate the medicine in the refrigerator.
- Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the carton.
- Must be stored in the original packaging to protect it from moisture.
- The tablets supplied in the pouches must be used within 30 days of opening the pouch.
