Bactrim (Sulfamethoxazole / Trimethoprim) is an antibiotic that combines sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim. The two drugs work together to stop a chemical that some bacteria produce for growth.
Once the chemical is stopped, the bacteria stop growing and multiplying.
Urinary tract infections.
Traveler's diarrhea in adults.
Middle ear infections in children.
Irritation of chronic bronchitis in adults.
Pneumonia in people with weakened immune systems.
Prevention of pneumonia in people with weakened immune systems.
Shigellosis (fever and diarrhea caused by Shigella bacteria).
Take this medicine at the dose and duration as directed by your doctor.
Check the label for instructions before use.
Measure with a measuring cup and take orally.
Shake well before use.
Bactrim syrup should be taken with food.
Before taking sulfamethoxazole with trimethoprim, inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to sulfa drugs or trimethoprim; or if you have any other allergies.
This product may contain inactive ingredients that can cause allergies or other problems.

Before using this medicine, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially about:
Kidney disease, liver disease, certain blood disorders (such as porphyria, anemia due to folate deficiency).
A history of blood disorders caused by trimethoprim or sulfa drugs, and vitamin deficiencies (folic acid or folate).
Severe allergies, asthma, decreased bone marrow function (bone marrow suppression), a specific metabolic disorder (G6PD deficiency), and decreased thyroid function.
Mineral imbalances (such as high potassium or low sodium levels in the blood).
This medicine may cause live bacterial vaccines (such as the typhoid vaccine) to not work well.
Inform your healthcare provider that you are using this medicine before receiving any vaccinations.
This medicine may make you more sensitive to sunlight.
Limit your time in the sun.
Avoid tanning booths and sunlamps.
Use sunscreen and wear protective clothing when outdoors.
Get medical help immediately if you get sunburned or develop blisters/redness on your skin.
Co-trimoxazole 800 mg / 160 mg Forte Tablets.
