Cefim 200 mg 8 capsules:
Effective against most strains of the following Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms:
- Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus pyogenes, Haemophilus influenzae, Haemophilus parainfluenzae, Moraxella (Pranamella) influenzae, Escherichia coli, Brilliant proteins.
- Proteus vulgaris, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Klebsiella pneumonia, Klebsiella oxytoca, Pasteurella multocida, Providencia species, Salmonella species, Shigella species.
Cefim 200 mg is used to treat:
- Pharyngitis, tonsillitis and sinusitis.
- Acute bronchitis and acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis.
- Inflammation of the middle ear.
- Uncomplicated urinary tract infections.
- Uncomplicated gonorrhea of the urethra or cervix.
Instructions for use:
- Adults and children over 12 years of age who weigh more than 50 kilograms—400 milligrams (mg) once a day or 200 milligrams (mg) every 12 hours.
Warnings and precautions:
- Before starting treatment with cefixime, it should be confirmed whether there are any previous hypersensitivity reactions to cephalosporins or penicillins.
- If allergic reactions occur, administration of the drug should be discontinued and the patient should receive appropriate treatment.
- Because pseudomembranous colitis may appear during treatment with broad-spectrum antibiotics (including macrolides, semi-synthetic penicillins, and cephalosporins)
- The onset of this type of colitis should be taken into account during treatment with these drugs.
- Extreme caution should be exercised when giving Cefim to patients with severe kidney disease. In such cases, the dose should be less than the usually recommended dose.
- Broad-spectrum antibiotics should be given with great care to patients who have previously suffered from intestinal disorders as colitis associated with antibiotic treatment can develop.
