Cefaclor is an antibiotic that belongs to the group of second-generation cephalosporins.
Forticef uses:
It is used to treat the following infections caused by susceptible microorganisms:
- Respiratory infections.
- Pneumonia, bronchitis and exacerbation of chronic bronchitis.
- Pharyngitis and tonsillitis.
- Treating sinusitis, otitis media, skin and sore throat.
- Tissue infections and urinary tract infections.
- Pyelonephritis and cystitis.
Do not use cefaclor:
- If you are allergic to the active ingredients or any of the other ingredients of this medicine, or to any other cephalosporin or penicillin medicines.
Warnings and precautions:
- Consider membranous colitis in case of diarrhea.
- Cefaclor should be used with caution in the presence of significant impairment of renal function.
- Prolonged use of cefaclor may result in overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms. If infection occurs during treatment, appropriate measures should be taken.
- Positive direct Coombs tests have been reported during treatment with cephalosporin antibiotics.
- A false positive urine glucose reaction may occur with copper sulfate test tablets.
Other medicines and cefaclor:
- Regular monitoring of prothrombin time should be considered when taking warfarin and cefaclor.
Possible side effects:
- Stop using the product and seek immediate medical attention if you develop hives, rash, chest tightness, wheezing, and low blood pressure.
