Cefaclor capsule 500 mg.

Cefaclor is an antibiotic that belongs to the group of second-generation cephalosporins.

Forticef uses:

It is used to treat the following infections caused by susceptible microorganisms:

  •  Respiratory infections.
  •  Pneumonia, bronchitis and exacerbation of chronic bronchitis.
  •  Pharyngitis and tonsillitis.
  •  Treating sinusitis, otitis media, skin and sore throat.
  •  Tissue infections and urinary tract infections.
  •  Pyelonephritis and cystitis.

Do not use cefaclor:

  • If you are allergic to the active ingredients or any of the other ingredients of this medicine, or to any other cephalosporin or penicillin medicines.

Warnings and precautions:

  • Consider membranous colitis in case of diarrhea.
  • Cefaclor should be used with caution in the presence of significant impairment of renal function.
  • Prolonged use of cefaclor may result in overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms. If infection occurs during treatment, appropriate measures should be taken.
  • Positive direct Coombs tests have been reported during treatment with cephalosporin antibiotics.
  • A false positive urine glucose reaction may occur with  copper sulfate test tablets.

Other medicines and cefaclor:

  • Regular monitoring of prothrombin time should be considered when taking warfarin and cefaclor.

Possible side effects:

  • Stop using the product and seek immediate medical attention if you develop hives, rash, chest tightness, wheezing, and low blood pressure.
