Hymox 250 mg Suspension 100 ml:

Amoxicillin is used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections.

This medicine is an antibiotic of the penicillin type.

It works by stopping the growth of bacteria.

That is, it only treats diseases caused by bacteria.

It will not work with viral infections (such as colds and flu).

Using any antibiotic when it is not needed can lead to it becoming ineffective for infections in the future.

Amoxicillin is also used with other medicines to treat stomach/intestinal ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori bacteria and to prevent the ulcer from returning.

Usage Instructions:

Mild to moderate infections:

Under 3 months:

Less than or equal to 30 mg/kg/day orally divided every 12 hours for 48-72 hours; for 10 days or more for streptococcal infections

Over 3 months and under 40 kg:

25 mg/kg/day orally divided every 12 hours or 20 mg/kg/day orally divided every 8 hours

Over 40 kg:

500 mg orally every 12 hours or 250 mg orally every 8 hours for 10-14 days

Severe infections:

Under 3 months:

Less than or equal to 30 mg/kg/day orally divided every 12 hours for 48-72 hours; for 10 days or more for streptococcal infections

Over 3 months and under 40 kg:

45 mg/kg/day orally divided every 12 hours or 40 mg/kg/day orally divided every 8 hours

Over 40 kg: 875 mg orally every 12 hours or 500 mg orally every 8 hours for 10-14 days

Acute middle ear infection:

Over 3 months and under 40 kg:

80 mg/kg/day orally divided every 8-12 hours.

Over 40 kg:

500 mg orally every 12 hours or 250 mg orally every 8 hours for 10-14 days.

Lower respiratory tract infections:

Mild, moderate, or severe infections

Under 3 months:

Less than or equal to 30 mg/kg/day orally divided every 12 hours for 48-72 hours; for 10 days or more for streptococcal infections

Over 3 months and under 40 kg:

45 mg/kg/day orally divided every 12 hours or 40 mg/kg/day orally divided every 8 hours

Over 40 kg:

875 mg orally every 12 hours or 500 mg orally every 8 hours for 10-14 days

Shake the bottle well before each dose.

Measure the dose carefully using a special measuring device/spoon.
Do not use a household spoon as you may not get the correct dose.

Take this medicine by mouth with or without food as directed by your doctor, usually every 8 or 12 hours.

The dose depends on your medical condition and response to treatment.

You can add the measured dose to formula, milk, juice, water, or ginger ale just before use.

Drink the entire mixture to get the full dose. Do not mix in advance for future use.

Drink plenty of fluids while using this medicine unless your doctor tells you otherwise.

For best results, take this antibiotic at evenly spaced times.

Tell your doctor if the condition persists or worsens.
