Co-amoxiclav 400 / 57mg / 5ml Powder for oral suspension is used to treat the following infections in adults and children:
Acute bacterial sinusitis (adequately diagnosed)
Acute otitis media
Acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis (adequately diagnosed)
Community-acquired pneumonia
Cystitis
Pyelonephritis
Skin and soft tissue infections, especially cellulitis, animal bites, acute dental abscess with spreading cellulitis.
Bone and joint infections.
For adults and children weighing ≥ 40 kg, this formulation of Co-amoxiclav 400 / 57mg / 5ml powder for oral suspension provides a total daily dose of 1750 mg amoxicillin / 250 mg clavulanic acid given twice daily and 2625 mg amoxicillin / 375 mg clavulanic acid given three times daily, when taken as recommended below.
For children under 40 kg, this formulation of Co-amoxiclav 400 / 57mg / 5ml powder for oral suspension provides a maximum daily dose of 1000-2800 mg amoxicillin / 143-400 mg clavulanic acid, when taken as recommended below.
If a higher daily dose of amoxicillin is needed, it is recommended to choose another preparation of Co-amoxiclav 400 / 57mg / 5ml powder for oral suspension to avoid unnecessary high daily doses of clavulanic acid.
The duration of treatment should be determined by the patient's response.
Some types of infections (such as osteomyelitis) require longer treatment periods.
Treatment should not be extended beyond 14 days without review.
Before taking this product, inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to amoxicillin or clavulanic acid; or penicillin or cephalosporin antibiotics; or if you have any other allergies.
This product may contain inactive ingredients which can cause allergies or other problems.

Before using this medicine, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially about: liver diseases (including liver problems caused by previous use of amoxicillin/clavulanic acid), kidney diseases (such as those requiring dialysis), and a certain type of viral infection (infectious mononucleosis).
Before surgery, tell your doctor or dentist about all the products you use (including prescription medicines, non-prescription medicines, and herbal products).
This product may interfere with the effectiveness of live bacterial vaccines (such as typhoid vaccine).
Do not receive any immunizations/vaccines while using this medicine unless your doctor tells you to.
During pregnancy, this medicine should be used only when clearly needed.
Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
This medicine passes into breast milk.
Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.
