Amoxicillin / Clavulanic Acid Tablets 625 mg

What is Amoxicillin / Clavulanic Acid and what is it used for:

Amoxicillin / Clavulanic Acid is used in adults and children to treat the following infections:
• Middle ear and sinus infections
• Respiratory tract infections
• Urinary tract infections
• Skin and soft tissue infections including dental infections
• Bone and joint infections

Do not take Amoxicillin / Clavulanic Acid:

• If you are allergic to amoxicillin, clavulanic acid, penicillin, or any other ingredients of this medicine.
• If you have previously had a severe allergic reaction to any other antibiotic. This may include rash or swelling of the face or throat.
• If you have previously had liver problems or jaundice (yellowing of the skin) when taking an antibiotic.

Warnings and precautions:

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Amoxicillin / Clavulanic Acid if you:
• Have glandular fever
• Are being treated for liver or kidney problems
• Do not pass water regularly

Possible side effects of Amoxicillin / Clavulanic Acid:

These include allergic reactions, seizures (fits), and inflammation of the large intestine.

Other medicines and Amoxicillin / Clavulanic Acid:

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you:

• Are taking allopurinol
• Are taking probenecid
• Are taking medicines to help stop blood clotting (such as warfarin)

How to take Amoxicillin / Clavulanic Acid:

Adults and children weighing 40 kg or more: the usual dose is one tablet three times a day

Children weighing less than 40 kg.

It is preferable to treat children aged 6 years or under with Amoxicillin / Clavulanic Acid oral suspension or sachets.

• Take with food.
• Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water.
